Naked in the New World
by neat blue dog ini know there was a painting of a woman being resurrected naked and someone coming to greet her holding clothes, but what about after perfection, after the thousand years?.
the idea is we're supposed to achieve what adam lost by returning to human perfection, so wouldn't that include not wearing clothes, especially as the act of adam and eve hiding in the trees and sewing fig leaves signified shame, and imperfection passed on through the reproductive organs.
has the wt ever addressed this?

i hardly ever read cedars when he was a member here--and that AAWA business went over my head. I dont think ive read more than half a dozen replies to the mega thread. Is it the longest there has ever been on here ?
Dont forget--there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Immidiate regret. Third rule broken, namely: passion rules reason
by Judgerussellford ini chose world events as a topic because it was the only one that seemed fitting enough.
i left work early (if you can call 445-3 early) so i could get some shopping done, fill up, grab a scratcher for the wife and be on my way home.
after i filled the tank i strolled into the tiny room of the gas station, to find myself behind an argument just started.

There are rumours the elders are getting ready to impose draconian measures to force people back to in-person and door to door.
good--hopefully a fair few will quit completely.

making out like a bandit
by enoughisenough inhere is a practice i only recently learned about and am actually interested in learning more details...some of you may have experience on the subject.
i always thought it marvelous, loving, and kind how the brothers would go in ( at their own expense) after disasters and repair homes of the witnesses who had been adversely effected.
i personally have worked freely helping to clean and repair after flooding.

before covid--i discovered my house had a problem with the ground floor--the laminate flooring was bulging and lifting--it turned out the underfloor was soaking wet. I contacted my insurers who sent in 2 surveyors: 1 to assess the extent of the damage, 2 to find the source of the water.
It turned out the ground floor shower was leaking waste water under the floor--so the whole lot had to come up and be replaced. Estimates were from £18 to 22,000. As soon as the insurance company got the quotes--they approved the lowest ( From my neighbour, a builder )...and settled the claim in full---STRAIGHT AWAY ! At no point was any inspection carried out--either during the work--or afterwards. My new engineered oak floor looks very nice.

New and improved?
by tenyearsafter ini have a family member who had been df'ed for 15 years or so...recently they reinstated as a jw.
when i asked what motivated them to make that decision, the response was to be able to see family and old friends.
they insisted that things were different now.

if i apply to be reinstated--will i have to give up atheism ? Its kinda easy that way. Like being one of Jehovah.s Unwitnesses.

i remember when i was still a teenage kid back in the 60's----the cong i was in organised a coach at very short notice to attend a mini one evening assembly at a stadium in London UK. Brother Knorr was coming to give a talk !. That prick was treated like god itself! His talk punch line was " you must not forget"...ive never forgotten that . ( I cant remember what his talk was about though )
These brain washed dubs treat their cult leaders like rock stars. They would buy their turds if some smart operator could market them.

Money donated for a specific reason
by enoughisenough ini decided to do this posting because of some comments in the post about pensions.
in the mid to late 1980's there was a flood and the local kingom hall was damaged and many of the friends homes were damaged...groups came in to help repair.
my then mother-in-law literally lost everything-she had no home to repair...she had been renting a small trailer and it washed away.

When my ( late ) JW dad went into a care home--in 2013, i applied for and got Power of Attorney to look after all his finances etc. I soon discovered he had been paying £100 each and every month into the congregation funds. I stopped that immediately.
Then i found proof he had also paid £5000 towards the Kingdom Hall purchase fund--although when i found out that hall had already been sold for site redevelopment. ( I wonder where THAT money went ).
When he went into the care home--it was in a different KH area--but one of his former elder friends used to visit him--but that soon stopped. A local elderly sister also visited him a few times--but then she died. The only other visitor he had was a sister who came to the care home to do the residents hair styling. I paid her to do my dads--although she avoided actually ever talking to me!!
